About LEED

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a Canadian standards organization that has developed a Green Building rating system for assessing buildings for sustainability, operating efficiency, livability, and environmentally responsible use of materials. Some of the central design concepts of LEED are:

• an integrated design process to ensure that there is an optimum balance between the building envelope and the mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering designs. Achieving this balance will create the most energy-efficient structure with an optimum life-cycle cost.
